Blog #12 "One Step forward, two steps back"

"One Step Forward, Two Steps Back"

One step forward two steps back, I am frustrated
Skip the tears, nothing works, bring on the anger
I heard frustration brings on the tears.
School, work, money, I am overwhelmed
Money, a life, happiness, I longed
When will I feel peace

Peace what is peace?
Nothing goes as planned, no wonder I am frustrated
Things to go smooth I longed
Rising, building, surfacing is the anger
Anger over being frustrated makes me overwhelmed
When will this stop? I hate tears

Salty sweet tears
Tears bring calm and peace
This feeling makes me overwhelmed
I know longer feel so frustrated
The frustration disappeared with anger
Oh, how this I longed.

I longed
No more tears
No more anger
Just peace
No frustration
No being overwhelmed

Slowly I am overwhelmed
Peace I have longed
Slowly I become frustrated
Bring on the tears
What happened to peace?
Slowly it builds anger

Such a powerful thing anger
Brought on from the feeling of being overwhelmed
It doesn't last forever that peace
Peace and Understanding I longed
Sadness, hopelessness tears
One step forward, two steps back I am frustrated.

  1. Wow... This is really good!!.... I don't know about anyone else but I know I have my times where I feel like this!

  2. Don't forget the envoy (the last three lines of the poem). I enjoyed following the trajectory of the words as they were repeated 6 times. I was most taken with the different work you did with the word "peace--the "just peace" line sticks out because the speaker appears to have achieved it by midpoem, yet it doesn't last. 8/10

  3. This poem was hard to write. trying to figure out how to write poems in a pattern is hard.
